Lead 9 - 16 Academy Physiotherapist 

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our Liverpool FC team as a Lead 9 - 16 Academy Physiotherapist.

The role will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the health of all academy youth players from U9-U16 years of age
  • Oversee the physiotherapeutic provision within the FDP and YDP phases reporting directly into the Academy Head of Physiotherapy.
  • Assist in providing medical care for all academy players aged U9-U16 under the guidance and with the authority of the Academy Head of Medicine and Performance and Academy Head of Physiotherapy to include obtaining specialist opinions where appropriate, coordinating investigations and operative procedures, as required.
  • Diagnose and establish treatment and rehabilitation plans in conjunction with the U9-U14 therapist and U15-U16 therapist for all youth players aged between U9 -U16 under the guidance and with the authority of the Academy Head of physiotherapy.
  • Devise and Implement injury prevention strategies for all players within the LFC academy aged between U9-U16.
  • Liaise with football management staff in order to optimise youth player performance and overall health
  • Carry out and oversee all investigations as required
  • Attend consultations with specialists to ensure that appropriate treatment decisions are made.
  • Maintain contemporaneous medical notes to an excellent standard
  • Ensure high levels of professionalism and patient confidentiality at all times

Who are we looking for:

  • Qualified Chartered Physiotherapist 
  • Member of the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Have recent and relevant professional experience in a sports performance environment;
  • Undertake Continued Professional Development(CPD) organised by the Club
  • Hold a current in date ATMMIF qualification.
  • Ability to demonstrate role model behaviours
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Understanding of the pressures and commitments required for youth players involved in higher level youth football (or other elite youth sports development awareness).
  • The ability to create an ethos which promotes high aspirations and achievement for all
  • An understanding of support strategies required to support a youth players emotional needs, including safeguarding.
  • Demonstrate the ability to create positive working relationships with all key stakeholders

Desirable:

  • Previous experiences in Academy Football at Cat 1 level in Foundation and Youth Phase Development
  • Masters levels degree relating to growth, maturation and development of young athletes
