First Team Performance Analyst

About the role

We are looking for an individual with a proven track record as a performance analyst within an elite football environment to join our Liverpool FC team as a First Team Performance Analyst. In this role, you will enhance the thoroughness of First Team Analysis provision to continually support our Manager, Coaching staff & Players with the most relevant, detailed information. You will satisfy the ever-evolving demands within our environment, supporting the coaching staff in terms of pre, live, post-match and training analysis: with the aim to improve on-field performance.
 
What will you be doing?
  • Supporting the Head of First Team Analysis and Senior Analyst in working towards our on and off field objectives. Consistently maintain high standards and adhere to club values and principles whilst doing so.
Individual Analysis
  • Designing and implementing an analysis program which will aid the development of selected players incorporating match/training footage as well as objective data where appropriate.
  • Developing and maintaining bespoke individual player databases.
  • Co-ordinating and managing player access to relevant match/training footage using various platforms.
  • Building content/presentations for analysis sessions and lead delivery when required.
  • Collaborating with our U21’s Analyst to fully understand players who transition from U21 to First Team.
Training Analysis
  • Daily filming of training sessions (and preparation for subsequent analysis sessions)
  • Accurate and efficient management of training session footage, enabling availability to relevant personnel in a timely manner.
  • Identifying and reporting of key observations, enabling feedback to coaching staff/players where appropriate.
Match Day
  • You will be required to travel to all home and away fixtures.
  • Undertaking live coding & analysis, including the provision of live feedback to aid the decision making of the manager and coaching staff.
  • Assisting and supporting match day logistics, as well as additional ad-hoc requests that may be required.
Further Responsibilities
  • Managing the First Team analysis databases to ensure that relevant information is available when requested.
  • Liaising & collaborating with other departments to help fully understand our players and processes.
  • Maintaining relationships and bridge communication/understanding between first team and development/academy programmes.
  • Researching and maintaining an up to date understanding of new technologies and presentation methods as well as trending topics, new solutions and other innovations within the game.
 
Who are we looking for?
 
To be successful in this role, you will have a proven track record working as a performance analyst within an elite football environment (First Team or Academy level) and will ideally have experience working within a first team environment at Premier League or Championship level. You will have detailed football knowledge and tactical understanding, with the ability to demonstrate how that can be applied in a practical setting. You will be able to demonstrate experience of combining an analytical skillset and tactical understanding to aid and support playing/coaching staff. Your proven experience will include analysing individual performance and analysing training sessions, aligning this within the team setting and wider club philosophy.   You will have a detailed understanding of how to interpret and utilise data, providing relevance and substance to aid the coaching process.
 
With your high level of computer competency, you will have used various analysis software & programmes including, Hudl Sportscode, Coach Paint, Keynote, iMovie and other presentation-based software. Having effective communication skills, you are confident communicating at all levels and can collaborate in varied group sizes.
 
It is essential that you have a flexible and dedicated approach to work, enabling certain tasks/demands to be conducted during unsociable hours.  Being self-motivated, you are comfortable working independently or within a team.  You can work reliably under pressure meeting tight deadlines and adhere to strict processes whilst maintaining high standards and confidentiality.

This is a full-time permanent role working 35 hours per week on a flexible 5 from 7 days basis including evenings and weekends. Your main base will be our AXA Training Ground in Kirkby.
