About the role
We are seeking an Academy Kit Operations Assistant to support the delivery of a high-quality, professional, and competition-compliant kit and laundry service across all Academy age groups. Working closely with the Academy Kit Operations Manager, the role contributes to the day-to-day organisation, preparation, and maintenance of kit and equipment to ensure players and colleagues are fully supported for training, matchdays, tours, and football-related activities.
The position plays an important operational support role within the Football Operations Department, helping to uphold service standards, efficiency, and best practice in line with the Club’s values and performance culture.
What you will be doing:
Operational Support
- Support the day-to-day distribution, organisation, and collection of Academy kit for players and colleagues.
- Assist with the preparation of training and matchday kit, ensuring accuracy, cleanliness, and presentation standards.
- Support compliance with competition regulations regarding kit, equipment, and branding across all age groups.
- Assist in maintaining high operational standards across:
- Changing rooms
- Boot room
- Kit rooms
- Laundry facilities
Kit & Equipment Management
- Assist with kit tracking, allocation, rotation, and returns under the guidance of the Academy Kit Operations Manager.
- Support stock counts, inventory checks, and record-keeping to maintain accurate kit and equipment records.
- Help identify worn or damaged items and report replacement needs.
- Assist with packing, unpacking, and organisation of kit and equipment for fixtures, training camps, and tours.
Planning & Logistics Support
- Support the coordination of kit and equipment for home and away fixtures, including loading and unloading vehicles.
- Work collaboratively with Academy staff (Coaching, Operations, Medical, and Support Services) to ensure kit needs are met.
- Assist with deliveries, storage organisation, and stock room upkeep.
Standards, Compliance & Health & Safety
- Adhere to all Club policies, health & safety procedures, and operational guidelines.
- Support the maintenance of a clean, safe, organised, and professional working environment at all times.
- Follow established processes and workflows, escalating issues to the Academy Kit Operations Manager where appropriate.
Matchday & Departmental Support
- Provide matchday operational support for Academy fixtures as required.
- Assist with wider Men’s Kit Operations activity when requested.
- Undertake reasonable additional duties to support the effective operation of the Kit Operations Department.
What we are looking for:
Essential Knowledge
- Confident IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience supporting inventory, stock control, or equipment management (sporting environment desirable).
- Exposure to a sporting or football environment is advantageous.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to follow structured processes.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and pride in presentation standards.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel for home and away fixtures.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Essential Functional / Technical Skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced, performance-focused environment.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks.
- Practical, hands-on approach with a strong work ethic.
- Willingness to learn, develop, and take feedback positively.
