Senior Associate, Financial Planning

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our Liverpool FC team as a Senior Associate, Financial Planning. You will be responsible for the end to end Financial Planning processes for the Club. You will build trusted relationships and gain internal and external knowledge in order to translate information from across the Club and externally into a Club wide financial projections.

What will you be doing?

  • Ownership of Annual budgets, which are presented to VP, SVP, EVP and ExCo internally. Responsible for the analysis and commentary, which feeds into the Club wide financial planning cycle as part of the external requirements set by the FSG group. Supporting the VP in the key messaging into ownership, to gain Budget sign off.
  • Responsibility for in year reforecasts which are presented to VP, SVP, EVP and ExCo internally monthly. Providing commentary and proactively managing the messaging into the VP, SVP.
  • Responsible for a weekly flash view of current financial performance, distributed to VP, SVP.
  • Ownership of multi-year reforecasts which are presented to VP, SVP, EVP and ExCo internally. This is also used for Player trade purposes and heavily supports the LFC President in key player trade decisions.
  • Ensuring that all financial forecasts reflect latest thinking and provide rigour and challenge where required to deliver maximum profitability and cashflow position for the Club.
  • Work collaboratively across the FP&A and other Finance departments to ensure that we are working towards aligned goals and standards.
  • Ownership of the Financial Forecasting tool (BizView), which will be utilised for all aspects of financial planning and forecasting. This is currently being implemented. The candidate will require a detailed working knowledge of the system to become an internal super user and identify opportunities for further applications of the system as it becomes established within the business
  • Ownership of sensitivity analysis to flex financial assumptions, depending on other factors such as football performance.
  • Work with commercially sensitive information and always remain professional.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the financial framework and keep up to date with external trends to contribute to the development of processes and policies in line with best practice.
  • Taking a proactive approach to risk management, ensuring risks and opportunities are identified both internally and externally, addressed and reported and, where appropriate, escalated.

Who are we looking for?

It’s vital the successful candidate has Meticulous attention to detail, given the importance of the financial forecasts and the decisions that are made as a result of the information provided. You will have a finance related degree or similar qualification (ACA,ACCA,CIMA,ICAEW), with significant finance experience across multiple disciplines. You will have a proven track record of improving cashflow forecasting and ability to translate large volume of data into the key summary suitable for the audience.

This role involves working with multiple departments and you will be responsible for pulling together large amounts of information and reporting this to the senior leadership team. Therefore, you will have strong communication and interpersonal skills with all stakeholders, with a view to gaining regular feedback at all levels. As well as being a strong collaborator and able to build great relationships with the senior leadership teams.
