About the role
We’re looking for an individual with a UEFA B License or above and demonstrable advanced coaching knowledge an individual to join our Liverpool FC Team as a Loans Pathway Lead.
You will play a critical role in the development and progress of Liverpool FC players on loan, both domestically and internationally. You will be responsible for supporting the club’s cohort of loan players by, assessing prospective coaching environments, maintaining close contact with loan clubs, and collaborating with clubs’ coaching staff to ensure players receive continuous, tailored development support.
Working as part of the Loans Player Management department, you will conduct detailed pre-loan evaluations of potential development environments and advise on the best fit training and competition environments for LFC players. During the loan periods, the Loan Player Pathway Lead will monitor each player’s progress, provide individualised coaching input as needed, and compile comprehensive reports on players’ development.
What will you be doing?
- Environment Assessment: Regularly evaluate the coaching environment, facilities, and support systems at each loan club to ensure they align with Liverpool FC’s standards for player development.
- Player Development Plans (PDP) Alignment: Work with loan club coaching and performance staff to align on each player’s Individual and Position Specific Development Plan (IDP) objectives, ensuring the player’s training and playing experiences support their specific development goals.
- Coaching Collaboration: Build strong, effective working relationships with loan club coaching staff to facilitate open communication on player needs, performance updates, and development progress.
- Tailored Coaching Support: Provide additional coaching support for loan players when necessary, offering targeted guidance to bridge any identified gaps in player development.
- Training Documentation: Collect evidence of the player’s training regime throughout the loan spell to identify potential inconsistencies and opportunities for improvement.
- Performance Monitoring, Profiling and Reporting: Collect and analyse player performance data, training feedback, and match reports to monitor players’ progression. Produce comprehensive, structured reports for the Head of Loans Player Support and senior club staff.
- Regular Player Check-Ins: Conduct regular check-ins with loan players to provide encouragement, address any development needs, and reinforce Liverpool FC’s support for their progress.
- Testing/Injury records: Monitor and report regular testing (Sports Science) and potential injuries to align optimal measures and potential recovery strategies with Liverpool FC staff.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as the key point of contact between Liverpool FC and loan clubs to ensure streamlined information flow and alignment on coaching priorities.
- Trend Analysis and Continuous Improvement: Track and analyse the impact of different coaching environments on player development, adapting support practices and recommending improvements as needed.
Who are we looking for?
To be successful in this role, you will hold a UEFA B licence or above and ideally will have a bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Sports Coaching, or a related field; or equivalent experience in player development support. You will hold a FA Talent ID level 3 (or equivalent for overseas candidates), with the ability to showcase recent and relevant experience related to the role. You will have significant experience coaching or coach education experience within an elite development environment.
With your strong background in football coaching, you will have worked at a senior level within the Professional Development Phase (PDP) or the professional game and can demonstrate advanced coaching knowledge. You will have a good understanding of performance analysis software and data tracking tools such as Hudl, SportsCode.
You will have prior experience supporting loan players or working within a multi-club coaching network and have a background in player scouting or player identification, with an ability to assess talent and potential in various playing environments. With experience of working in multicultural environments, you will have established networks within the professional football coaching community and experience supporting players in varied coaching environments. You will have working proficiencies in additional languages to English.
Due to the nature of the role, you must be able to travel as required and work flexibly across the week including evenings & weekends. As there is a requirement to travel, you must have a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.
