LFCW Pro Game Academy U16s Physiotherapist or Sports Therapist

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our Liverpool Football Club Women’s team as a PGA U16s Physiotherapist or Sports Therapist. The purpose of this role is to provide high quality physiotherapy/sport therapy services for all individuals within the U16s PGA squad, focusing on delivery of rehabilitation, treatment and all stages of the injured player rehabilitation pathway.
 
What will you be doing?
 
  • To attend all LFCW PGA U16s training sessions and matches throughout the season.
  • To liaise with LFCW PGA U16s coaching staff regarding players’ injury status and availability.
  • To arrange, lead and perform annual player medical screening for all LFCW PGA U16s squad players and any players involved in external talent identification processes.
  • To assess and manage injuries and illnesses to players within the LFCW PGA U16s squad.  
  • To provide treatment and rehabilitation to players within the LFCW PGA U16s squad.
  • To design and deliver individual injury prevention programmes for players within the LFCW PGA U16s squad.
  • To keep records which meet the standard required by The FA and the appropriate professional bodies.
  • To manage referrals for LFCW PGA U16s players to the LFCW PGA U21s physiotherapist/sports therapist.
  • In collaboration with the PGA manager and the LFCW PGA U21s physiotherapist/sports therapist, communicate with parents/carers in the event of physiotherapy/sports therapy queries, generally, and specifically to their children.
  • In collaboration with the PGA manager and the LFCW PGA U21s physiotherapist/sports therapist, ensure rules and best practice for adequate physiotherapy/sports therapy provision and PGA processes allow adherence to guidelines.
  • To ensure treatment areas are kept clean and tidy, identify any health and safety risks and pass these on to the PGA Manager.
  • To maintain contemporaneous medical notes to a high standard on the Women’s Performance System (WPS)
  • Ensure high levels of professionalism and player confidentiality at all times.
  • To liaise with international associations, maintaining strong and professional relationships at all times.
  • To attend and contribute to FA CPD events and further training as required.
 
Who are we looking for?
 
To be successful in this role, you will have experience in athlete rehabilitation, development, and long-term assessments, as well as reporting and self-management. It is most important you understand and have the knowledge of the pressures and commitments of elite athletes and can be empathetic and understand support strategies for player emotional needs. You will have experience of following the FA or equivalent codes of conduct and regulation and have recent and relevant practice in a professional performance sport environment.
 
It is important you can create positive working relationships with all key stakeholders and have excellent communication and organisational skills. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to diversity, equal opportunities, and continuous professional development and able to work collaboratively as part of a team in a professional environment. 
 
Essential Qualifications for this position
Physiotherapists 
  • Chartered physiotherapist and registered member of the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Full CSP membership which includes medical indemnity.
  • Have an up-to-date full Advanced Emergency Aid Qualification; this should be at least the Level 4 Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football (ITMMIF)
  • FA Safeguarding Children Course
  • UKAD Clean Sport Advisor
Sports Therapists 
  • Relevant degree – sports therapy or equivalent
  • Full membership to the Society of Sports Therapy or equivalent
  • Have appropriate medical indemnity with your governing body.
  • Have an up-to-date full Advanced Emergency Aid Qualification; this should be at least the Level 4 Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football (ITMMIF)
  • FA Safeguarding Children Course
  • UKAD Clean Sport Advisor
 
Why should you apply?
 
This is a casual position working up to 19 hours per week, starting July ‘23 until May ‘24. This role includes working afternoons, evenings, weekends, and PGA match fixtures on a 5 in 7-day basis at multiple sites.
