LFCW Pro Game Academy Education and Player Care Lead

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our Liverpool FC team as a LFCW Pro Game Academy Education and Player Care Lead. In this role, you will lead on all aspects of education and player care provision within the Liverpool Football Club Women’s Pro Game Academy (PGA).  You will ensure that each individual within the PGA is provided with the necessary support and guidance to fulfil their potential within a high-performance training and playing environment and culture that supports personal and professional development with a dual career focus for players.  

What will you be doing?

  • Lead on liaison with education partners to ensure individuals within the PGA are supported as necessary to balance their academic commitments alongside their PGA football programme.
  • Lead on the development and delivery of a player care curriculum for the PGA that complements the player development aspects of the PGA programme.
  • Lead on the delivery of the Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) that individuals within the PGA will study as part of their academic programme of study.
  • Lead on the development and delivery of Individual Education Development plans (IEDPs) for each individual within the PGA.
  • Support individuals to make informed post 16 and post 18 transition decisions.
  • Deliver one to one and small group intervention sessions as necessary and appropriate to meet individual needs.
  • Work in collaboration with the PGA manager to ensure that the LFCW PGA adheres to and exceeds all of the FA PGA licence requirements linked to education and player care.  
  • Prepare, deliver and provide feedback on a regular basis to relevant stakeholders, including parents and carers, on all aspects of education and player care within the LFCW PGA.
  • Work as an education tutor for the men’s academy delivering one to one and small group sessions with a specific focus area of English or mathematics delivery at GCSE or functional skills level.

Who are we looking for?

To be successful in this role, you will hold a relevant undergraduate degree and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). You will have teaching experience or pastoral experience in a relevant educational setting (for example, secondary school, college of FE/HE environment or the careers services) and can evidence providing high quality teaching and learning group and one to one session delivery. You will have experience of delivering English or mathematics at GCSE and or functional skills level.  You will have experience of working with and developing elite athletes.

With your excellent communication skills, you can demonstrate the ability to create positive working relationships with all key stakeholders, including players and player’s families.

You will be proficient using PowerPoint or Keynote to deliver presentations and will have experience of writing and reviewing individual development plans linked to education. You will have good organisational skills and be able to work flexibly across the week including evenings & weekends as well as being able to travel and work across multiple training sites.

This is a 3-year fixed term contract, full-time position working, a flexible pattern, 35 hours per week, 5 from 7 days. Your main base will be the AXA Melwood Training Facility.
