About the role
We’re looking for an individual with experience of leading player contract renegotiations and relevant player trading experience to join our Loan Player Management team at Liverpool FC team as Head of Loan Management.
In this role, you will oversee and execute the loan pathways strategy at Liverpool FC. You will lead a loan focused, multidisciplinary team, to place and support players who would benefit from a loan experience as part of their individual development. Collaborating with senior football leadership, you will source loan opportunities and lead player placement discussions and negotiations. You will lead the Loans Player Management department to ensure that our loan players maximise the loan experience and remain connected to Liverpool FC.
What will you be doing?
- Lead the loan player placement process including contract management and club negotiations.
- Coordinate and mobilize our loan player management team to support Liverpool FC players who go on loan.
- Work closely with LFC research to support player placement and individual player development.
- Maintain an updated view about the contract status of younger players and work with the Assistant Sporting Director regarding contract offers and renegotiations.
- Keep an up-to-date view on Liverpool FC playing squads to contribute to player pathway discussions with senior football leadership.
- Supporting the exiting of academy players and be involved in wider player trading discussions, when required.
- Abide by the FA and LFC safeguarding rules and regulations working with young children.
Who are we looking for?
To be successful in this role, you will have recent demonstrable experience of leading player contract renegotiations together with relevant player trading experience. You will have a proven background working in elite development environments with recent experience of supporting the pathway and transition of elite young players from academy to senior football. You will have a good understanding of performance analysis software and data tracking tools such as Hudl, SportsCode and have recent experience of collaborating with data to support positive outcomes and gain deeper insight.
You will have significant experience working in a senior leadership position within an elite development environment either in Professional Development Phase (PDP) or the professional game.
You will either hold or be working towards FA Talent ID level 4 (or equivalent) qualification and you will have a background in player scouting or player identification, with an ability to assess talent and potential in various playing environments.
With your excellent interpersonal and communication skills, you can build rapport with staff and players at all levels together with leading a team under pressure and fostering a collaborative approach. You will have a global network of contacts and relationships that is relevant to this position and a passion to see Liverpool FC players maximise their potential.
You will be comfortable and can demonstrate experience working in academy and first team environments with the ability to adapt support approaches to meet the specific needs of players and loan clubs.
Due to the nature of the role, you must be able to travel as required and work flexibly across the week including evenings & weekends. As there is a requirement to travel, you must have a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.
