About the role
We are looking for an individual with a proven track record to join our Safeguarding Team as our Football Safeguarding Officer. As well leadership experience in safeguarding, we are looking for someone who understands the lives of elite sports youngsters.

What will you be doing?
- As a member of the club’s Safeguarding team working to ensure Safeguarding at Liverpool FC provides a first-class experience for all children and vulnerable adults.
- Ensure Liverpool FC fulfil our legal and regulatory responsibilities. This includes the Premier League rules and Safeguarding standards.
- Help in leading the delivery across the Club of the safeguarding strategic plan, vision, and values.
- As part of the LFC Safeguarding team, ensure that all external audits of the Safeguarding at Liverpool FC continue to be highly successful.
- To be DSL for two parts of the club’s activities. This will include being one of the Designated Safeguarding Leaders for the LFC Boys Academy. Over time, it is envisioned that this can extend to LFC Women Academy.

- To work in conjunction and collaboratively with the Director of Safeguarding, the Academy Manager, the Academy Head of Operations and the Academy player care team and all other Academy staff.
- To be available to and work with the young players and their parents.
- Ensure that risks are minimised, mitigated, and help to embed a positive culture for safeguarding throughout the Academy.
- Oversee all safeguarding elements within the player care and welfare education programmes for Liverpool FC Academy.
- To manage all casework from your areas of responsibility.
- Work cooperatively with the other Designated Safeguarding Leaders across LFC, including Match Day, LFC Foundation, LFC Women and International Academies to ensure consistency of practice across the club.
- Provide excellent level of service responding to all queries in a timely and efficient manner.
Who are we looking for?
To be successful, you will have a proven background in safeguarding leadership with experience within elite sports either as a participant or player.
Degree educated (or equivalent), you will have in-depth knowledge of legislative framework for safeguarding together with up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding best practice and research.
You will have a track record of successful leadership within an organisation with statutory or regulatory safeguarding responsibilities. Your experience will include working successfully with children or adults with vulnerabilities from a variety of backgrounds and communities and of working positively with parents of young people. You will have led the work of other professionals and be confident in leading teams and holding them accountable for delivering performance objectives that support organisational priorities as well as leading other adults with little knowledge of safeguarding.
You will have excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to adapt your style to different audiences. You will be able demonstrate the ability to work alongside elite sporting colleagues, player, and their parents in a cooperative and successful manner. With your excellent planning and organisational skills, you can effectively manage & deliver a diverse workload and lead others through change programmes.
You will be able to work flexibly to meet the demands of the business, to be able to provide help and support to colleagues, players, and their parents when they access the club for training or playing whether that be evenings or weekends.
You will have a high level of integrity with the ability to deal with sensitive and confidential matters and have a positive solution focused attitude. You will have strong IT skills and the ability to keep accurate records.

This is a full-time permanent role working 35 hours per week 5 out of 7 days at our Academy and at our other sites in Liverpool.
