Food Safety and Compliance Manager

About the role

Here at Liverpool Football Club, we are looking for an experienced Food Safety & Compliance Manager to take the lead in ensuring our catering and operational services consistently meet the highest regulatory, safety, and quality standards. In this role, you’ll champion food safety, oversee risk-management processes, and oversee Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) and operational training to support safe, efficient, and reliable service delivery. As a key member of the team, you’ll help maintain exceptional operational standards, minimise risk, and foster a strong, proactive culture of compliance across our catering and operations functions.


What will you be doing?

You will lead food safety, risk management, and operational safety across all catering environments, maintaining risk registers, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with HACCP, allergen management, and health & safety standards. You will oversee SOP and policy development, support audit readiness, and monitor supplier and subcontractor compliance.

The role also includes designing and delivering training programmes covering food safety, HACCP, allergen awareness, Safe Systems of Work, and operational safety, ensuring all staff remain fully trained and compliant. You’ll track certification and training records and adapt training for diverse operational teams.

You will drive continuous improvement, review operational processes, lead investigations into incidents and near misses, and provide regular compliance, training, and risk reporting to senior leadership while supporting a strong culture of safety and accountability.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for applicants who can demonstrate strong food safety and hygiene expertise, alongside solid knowledge of Safe Systems of Work and operational risk assessment. You will have experience delivering training, deploying operational standards, and developing policies and SOPs. 

The role requires strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills, effective leadership and collaboration, and excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Applicants must also show adaptability, a proactive approach to supporting colleagues, and confident stakeholder management with the ability to influence at all levels.
