First Team Opposition Analyst

About the role

We are looking for an individual with a proven track record as a performance analyst within an elite football environment to join our Liverpool FC men’s team as a First Team Opposition Analyst. In this role, you will enhance the thoroughness of First Team Analysis provision to continually support our Manager, Coaching staff & Players. Specifically analysing our upcoming opposition, you will strive to deliver actionable insight through video and data in the most pertinent and efficient manner with the aim to improve on-field performance. 

What will you be doing?

Opposition Analysis

    Lead the opposition analysis process, with specific consideration to ‘open play’ details and team style. 

    Co-ordinate and lead opposition preview meetings prior to each upcoming fixture. 

    Collaborate with other department members, notably the Head of 1st Team Analysis and Opposition Analyst (Set Pieces) to ensure that the analysis undertaken is thorough and detailed whilst maintaining relevance and clarity when articulating findings to key stakeholders. 

    Be proactive in the creation and organisation of supporting documentation/material to coaching/playing staff in preparation of each upcoming fixture. 

    Attend live matches of upcoming opposition when appropriate. 

    Liaise & collaborate with other departments to continually develop and integrate our working processes. 

    Stay abreast of new technologies and presentation methods as well as trending topics, new solutions and other innovations within the game.

    Maintain department databases, specifically relating to the requirements of the relevant work undertaken. 

    You may also be required to assist and support match day logistics, as well as complete additional ad-hoc requests, subject to the needs of the Head of 1st Team Analysis. 

Who are we looking for?

To be successful in this role, you will have a proven track record as an opposition analyst within elite football, working within a first team environment. You will have detailed football knowledge and tactical understanding, with the ability to demonstrate how that can be applied in a practical setting, aligning to a specific club philosophy. With effective communication skills, your experience will include presenting information to key stakeholders in a variety of settings, catering your work to provide maximum clarity.  You will have a detailed understanding of how to interpret and utilise data, providing relevance and substance to aid the coaching process. Your credentials will showcase your ability to prioritise workload in a demanding environment whilst striving to produce work of the highest standard. 

With your high level of computer competency, you will be proficient in the use of various analysis software & programmes including, Hudl Sportscode, Coach Paint, Keynote, iMovie and other presentation-based software.  

It is essential that you have a flexible and dedicated approach to work, enabling certain tasks/demands to be conducted during unsociable hours.  Being self-motivated, you are comfortable working independently or within a team.  You can work reliably under pressure meeting tight deadlines and adhere to strict processes whilst maintaining high standards and confidentiality.

This is a full-time permanent role working 35 hours per week on a flexible 5 from 7 days basis including evenings and weekends. Your main base will be our AXA Training Ground in Kirkby.
