About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our Liverpool FC as an Associate, Management Accountant. 
 
You will play a pivotal role in the finance department by managing and overseeing various accounting functions and financial processes. You will be responsible for ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial data, as a well as providing valuable insights and analysis to support strategic decision making. 
 
What will you be doing?
 
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements. Leading the preparation and consolidation of financial statements for the US entity.
 
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to provide insights on financial performance, trends, and potential areas for improvement to support decision-making processes.
 
  • Month-End Close: Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure smooth month-end close procedures, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
 
  • External Audits: Collaborate with external auditors during interim and year-end audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations related to financial reporting.
 
  • Internal Controls: Help maintain a robust internal control environment, identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance financial reporting accuracy and efficiency.
 
  • Financial Projects: Participate in various financial projects, such as system implementations, process improvements, and ad hoc analysis, as required.
 
  • Compliance & Regulation: Stay up-to-date with relevant financial regulations and football reporting requirements to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and standards.
 
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments, including finance, tax, legal, and operations, to gather financial data and ensure consistency and accuracy in reporting.
 
Who are we looking for?
 
To be successful in this role, you will be a qualified accountant (CA, ACA, CIMA or ACCA) with a proven post-qualification track record in accounting and an understanding of US accounting standards, financial principles, and reporting requirements. You will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide valuable insights. You will also have a keen eye for detail and accuracy in financial reporting, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
 
The right candidate will be self-motivated and can work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks and deadlines effectively. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to stakeholders at various levels. You will be proficient in financial software, ERP systems, and MS Office applications, particularly Excel and have a collaborative approach to work, with the ability to work well within a cross-functional team.

This is a full-time permanent role working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. You main base will be our office on Chapel Street in Liverpool City Centre, which is close to local bars, shops and restaurants and has great views over the river Mersey.
