About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our Liverpool FC team as an Associate – Safeguarding Lead. You will be a member of the club’s Safeguarding team, to support all members of this team to ensure Safeguarding at Liverpool FC provides a first-class experience for all children and adults. You will help in leading the delivery across the Club of the safeguarding strategy, vision and values. As part of the Safeguarding team, you will ensure that all external duties of Safeguarding at Liverpool FC are highly successful.
You will be the Designated Safeguarding Lead for two areas of the club. This may include; Liverpool FC Academy, Liverpool Women FC, LFC Stadia and Events, Liverpool International Academies.
What will you be doing?
- Working collaboratively with the Director of Safeguarding, the Academy Director, the Academy Designated Safeguarding Officer and the Academy player care team and all other Academy staff in either the boys or girls environment.
- Assisting the Deputy Safeguarding Lead to ensure that employees in your designated areas of the club have the skills and awareness of safeguarding, appropriate to their role, ensuring compliance with Premier League, The F.A. and statutory requirements. To assist the Deputy Safeguarding Lead in planning and delivering Safeguarding training specific to the roles of each area.
- Using the clubs safeguarding central management recording system to ensure maximum use, training, analysis and procedures all are exemplary. To ensure that reporting Low level Concerns, Self reporting and staff allegations is developed within the designated areas of the club.
- Maintain accurate records and auditable accounts of relevant safeguarding, welfare, and education work.
- Ensuring all aspects of your professional and personal conduct meets the exact standards of Liverpool FC and comply with national, legal and regulatory expectations.
- Keep up to date with legislation and best practice surrounding the role.
- Attend all internal and external meetings, courses and seminars as required by your line manager or to fulfil your role.
- Ensure all qualifications and CPD requirements are kept up to date in line with any applicable regulations.
- Any other reasonable duties.

Who are we looking for?
To be successful in this role, you will have an up to date knowledge of safeguarding best practice, and research as well as, in depth knowledge of the legislative framework for safeguarding. You will have proven ability and experience, to work alongside elite sporting, players and their parents in a cooperative and successful manner. It is important you can be articulate and be able to represent Liverpool FC when working with a variety of stakeholders.
You will have excellent communication skills and able to adapt your approach to a variety of audiences, as well as strong IT skills and the ability to keep accurate records. For this position, you will need excellent planning, organisational and relationship management skills and be able to lead others through change.
The successful candidate will have experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead, Safeguarding Officer or player care experience in an organisation with significant numbers of young people and / or adults at risk. You will have experience of supporting elite athletes, ideally footballers, through their journey in sport. You will have experience of working with children from a variety of backgrounds and communities, parents of young people or adults at risk. You will have the ability to lead teams and hold them accountable for delivering performance objectives that support organisational priorities.
